Something has been missing... New stuff - that's what

Emily Barker

PictureBest known for Nostalgia, theme to Wallander (UK version) - Click pic to listen
Incredible but I had failed to include Emily Barker, Aussie singer/songwriter living in the UK and very much my favourite voice and talent currently.  Helps that she reminds me of a past... Roots, folksy, and what they call Americana.
Listen to her HERE

Amy Macdonald

PictureLots of her own songs out there but this live version of Cohen's Hallelujah might surprise - Click pic to listen
And more recently I found Amy MacDonald, yet another Scot! Again, a singer/ songwriter of great talent but this time a more modern, up-tempo feeling.  For me while her style is modern her content is still roots - but a younger take perhaps.
Listen to her HERE

... and, yes, there is a theme here - I like women's singing voices

Picture

The delicious Ms
Eddi Reader

One of the best voices I have ever heard and her work is sensational. She loves the work of Robert Burns and has resurrected his songs. Try this HERE

This isn't Burns but might be
Wild Mountainside

and THIS is creepily good

and THIS just heartbreaking

Ebony Rose Buckle

Actress mostly but has a great voice TRY HERE
and especially  HERE
Picture

Julie Covington

Picture
You may remember her better as the first Evita and her very fine version of Don't Cry For Me Argentina. Well you need to try these two:
If I Fell in Love
and

In My Life

And a You Tube compilation here has more

Karine Polwart

Picture

Terrific Scottish singer songwriter

Try this one

Many great songs but here's another one to try HERE

Show of Hands

Picture
Far and away my favourite folk band - Steve Knightley is a genius in my view.
http://www.showofhands.co.uk/

They have an excellent player on the site HERE

Hiding her considerable light is Miranda Sykes whose vocals perfectly match Knightly and Beer. Listen to here HERE
