The past...

Picture
Of course our own nuclear programme was very safe as we proved at Windscale (now called Sellfield lest we remember)
Picture
HERE we are in India at the very safe Re-Chem plant in Bhopal - they are dying still.
Picture
AND piling coal slurry up in Welsh hillsides was totally safe as the children and families of Aberfan were able to tesitify
Picture
Japan had a ready excuse of course - it was the tsunami and who would have expected that in that part of the world when they built the plant on the beach...

...and it goes on click here

Picture
Chernobyl was safe right up to the moment it wasn't.
Picture
And our own dear Flixborough was a perfect reminder of how you have to build in safety measures at every stage.

So far there is nothing happening - but...

A recent and it must be said slightly alarmist mail from Greenpeace suggested that nowhere in the UK was safe. And in fact that seems to be very nearly true. But as yet Norfolk is not being actively targetted.
However, given all the oil and gas that was found just offshore I for one am not sanguine about what may happen.
And allowing for the appalling mess we have got into since 2008 I am also more than a little cynical that the current promotion of the Keep Calm and Carry On farago is actually a deeply sinister plot by neo-con faction to keep us in a false sense of security. Do I joke? I wish I was sure.
Anyway, always up for a scrap I joined the "Not for Shale" movement (see link) and spammed everyone in my circle of (probably now ex) friends.
On this page are a string of links and images.
Many are based on the fact that, at 70- years of age I am now last in the queue to believe avery reassurance I get.
