A great weekdn in Bollington with many thanks to Ken and Sandra. Garden in fantastic shape and the new terrace is a joy. But I was struck by news of a visit by Manchester Architecture students and one who was disappointed by how Bollington people took the wonderful use of stone throughout their town totally for granted.
He came up with the idea of drawing the eye with a substitute stone painted gold - and so see above. It has been used for notes and sweeties for kids. Great idea I think.
So then I took a few pictures on the 200 metre stroll down Kerridge Lane (?) to the sheep field. And the result confirms his opinion - this marvellous work should NOT be taken for granted - it may disappear!
And how about a Bollington Town Council tourist booklet on the "Stones of Bollington - the inheritance of the Kerridge quarries" - hmm?
