Parish Council last night

11/10/2011

Went to the parish council meeting last night. Two things of immediate interest. Norfolk County Council's latest news on their plan to deliver broadband into the village via wi fi from the village school and using the existing county library network. Will give up to ten times faster service than BT so all good news.
Then there was the controversy over the caravan site which has had permission since 2003 for 15 vans. Its where we store our van so matters to us. Apparently the original permission did not cover the whole site and there is a small piece of land which will take up to six vans which is critical. Its been used for years but the locals did not like a bit of creep that had occasionally taken vans into a less suitable area. Never mind the details it was a classic planning conforntation which was a bit sour. The owner's application two months back was amended and that led to a deferral by the planning committe which meant the parish, which had opposed, had to re-consider it. However the parish was a bit more pro this time. It should go through now OK.
Pity is that as ever it did not bring out the best in any of us frankly.
Visit from a dear friend this weekend which should be fun.
